Ascot, Haydock and Wincanton
Another Saturday of short-priced favourites is here, and Kauto Star will be watched closely for clues for Cheltenham, now twenty-four days away. I can't see Kauto getting beaten in the big steeplechase at Ascot, nor Neptune Collonges and Katchit in the Country Gentleman's Chase and the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton. So:
Ascot 150: King's Revenge
Ascot 225: Kauto Star
Haydock 245: Philson Run
Wincanton 310: Neptune Collonges
Wincanton 340: Katchit

Three short-priced winners here, Tom, but, as the saying goes, a short-priced winner is always better than a longer priced loser. I took on Neptune Collonges with Naunton Brook - my folly was evident from an early stage - NC was particularly impressive. Paul Nicholls said before racing the horse is suited by a flat track which has slightly put me off an each-way interest in the Gold Cup - are you tempted at 33/1? NC appeared to be going well enough at Cheltenham on his first run this season before blowing up three out.
